Birds can help get a child interested in many other aspects of nature and lead to a lifelong love and appreciation of the natural world, and adult mentors can play a crucial role in doing this. Through the open-access ‘Handbook for Bird Educators‘, we hope to convince all adults – teachers, parents, birders, non-birders – to become mentors who can help rebuild deeper connections with nature, and open more eyes and ears to the wonders of birds and nature. In this talk we will take you through our journey of creating this resource, and will demonstrate a few activities that can be tried out with children.
